What is IVF?

About 15% of couples in Israel encounter difficulties in achieving pregnancy. This number is due to the increase in the age of marriage, as well as an unexplained decrease in a person’s fertility.
IVF, or “in vitro fertilization,” is a three-step medical procedure:
  • The first is ovarian stimulation to increase the number of eggs produced.
  • The second is the extraction of eggs from the ovaries and fertilization with sperm.
  • The third is the return of the developing embryo(s) to the uterine cavity.
